Checking a service against the Support at Home service list

A familiar service name is not enough to establish that an activity fits Support at Home. The official service list describes service types and provides examples of activities within and outside their scope. It also distinguishes the participant contribution categories. Read the official service list: https://www.health.gov.au/resources/publications/support-at-home-service-list.

Check the activity, not just the label

A useful team review asks: what was actually requested, which service entry is relevant, what restrictions apply, and what participant approval supports the proposed service? Keep the answer with the planning record so another staff member can understand it.

The September 2026 file includes an important date distinction: personal care moves from Independence to Clinical supports for contribution purposes for services delivered from 1 October 2026. Earlier delivery dates retain their applicable treatment. This does not mean every personal-care activity becomes a nursing service. Official explanation of the change: https://www.health.gov.au/support-at-home/personal-care-contributions.

Where a situation does not clearly fit, record the uncertainty and seek an authorised decision before promising funding. Do not turn a broad category description into a guarantee of eligibility.

How Genoveva could help

Genoveva could help teams keep a service reference, the applicable date and a provider’s review decision together. Planned catalogue and care-planning workflows could reduce repeated lookups and make unresolved questions visible. These capabilities need release verification and do not replace official service eligibility or provider judgement.
